Abstract
David John Purdie, Manager of the Adelaide University Roseworthy College’s residential section, has been involved with the University for 28 years, transitioning from a finance background to his current role in 2011. The campus underwent significant changes over his tenure, shifting from predominantly agriculture-based degrees to hosting a Veterinary School, which brought a diverse, high-achieving student body. Emphasising community, David highlighted efforts to accommodate student life through various activities like sports and events, adaption during Covid-19 and fostering strong bonds among students. Residing on-campus, David and his family experienced an immersive college environment, with the college evolving to full residential capacity, highlighting a focus on student wellbeing and integration. Amidst potential campus expansion discussions, David supports the idea of Roseworthy’s growth, incorporating more students and courses to enhance student experiences while maintaining their unique community spirit.
